Around our home we love all things coffee, as well as many other types of beverages like hot chocolate so when the Jiva Coffee Cubes arrived we were very interested to try them.
Now sometimes when I stumble on a new coffee item I am excited and other times I am more curious as to how it is all going to turn out. That is what I felt with Jiva Coffee Cubes at first, because they do not look like traditional coffee. They smell like coffee but they look more like an extra long brown sugar cube. I was skeptical.
I decided to try the hot chocolate first, I figured that would be a way to ease into Jiva. At first I was not really a fan, but I also did not read the directions when I mixed my first batch up. I used nearly 4 times the amount of liquid, and then wondered why I could barely taste it. I really need to learn to read directions BEFORE trying new things. Someday I will learn!
Jiva Coffee Cubes come in several flavors, and non-coffee versions too!
- Coffee Hazelnut
- Coffee French Vanilla
- Coffee Classic
- Coffee Mocha
- Hot Chocolate
- Caramel Hot Chocolate
My 2nd attempt was much more successful! In fact, what I really enjoyed was the coffee flavor with the hint of sweetness. The classic coffee flavor was simple to prepare, you can see the how-to video below. I learned from Jiva that the sweetness in their cubes is Panela – an unrefined raw sugar. This is Hubs’ favorite sugar. I use to pick it up at almost any store down in El Paso, Texas. He LOVES the stuff, I have come home to him eating it plain, just chomping away on a chunk.
We got to try all of the Jiva Coffee Cube flavors except for Mocha, but that is what got me thinking creatively. Why not mix up my own Jiva Mocha flavor!
- 2 Jiva Coffee Classic Cubes
- 1 Jiva Hot Chocolate Cube
- 6-8 oz very hot water
- 2 oz coconut cream
I heated the water first, and then put my cubes in to dissolve. This will take a bit longer than a normal cup of coffee made from Jiva Cubes because I am using less liquid than you normally would. Once the cubes have melted that is when I stirred in the coconut cream. This turned out heavenly and it has been my prefered way to Jiva!
I really like the convenience of being able to grab a couple cubes and head off to work in the morning without taking a whole bunch of stuff with me, or spilling a travel mug of hot coffee on myself.
If you are interested in trying Jiva Coffee Cubes for yourself, come back on February 10th for the start of a great giveaway!
