Thoughts about – At My Grandmother’s Table by Faye Porter

A few weeks ago Hubs and I went out for breakfast, which is not something we do often but it is always a nice way to start the day.  While we were out and about in Missoula I stumbled upon the book, At My Grandmother’s Table by Faye Porter.  It is a collection of stories and recipes passed down from one generation to another.  It reminded me so much of my Grandma that I couldn’t even read it while we were at the store. I put it back on the shelf and walked away, sometimes it is hard to bring up memories of people we love who have passed away.

What I didn’t know was that while Hubs was checking out with a couple other books for himself, he picked up At My Grandmother’s Table.  I found it sitting on my night stand a few days later.  He can be incredibly thoughtful sometimes, and I am so glad he bought the book.

Grandma's Table

I have read it from cover to cover, every recipe and story inside.  Some of the stories made me cry, some made me smile and almost all of them reminded me of my Grandma.

We have even tried out a few of the recipes inside At My Grandmother’s Table:

  • Old-Fashioned Donuts
  • Grana’s Grownup Mac N Cheese
  • Lemon Icebox Pie
  • Grandaddy’s Favorite Casserole
  • Nana’s Sausage Cheese Bites

So far every recipe we have tried out, has been delicious.  I do need to work on making my food look a bit more like the photos inside!  I am so glad that Hubs picked up this book, it has brought back so many wonderful happy memories of spending time in my Grandmas kitchen.  This book is on sale at Amazon, or a local book store.
