A few months back Hubs and I did a painting class at a coffee shop in Missoula, with Art on Tap. Well my Mom is crafty and found a similar class in Colorado Springs during our visit. With 4 or more people, you can have your own class and not be in a scheduled group. It worked out perfectly for us since we had 4 ladies ready to drink some coffee and wine while we painted.
We headed down to my favorite part of Colorado Springs, into Old Colorado City. I just love this place! It has a great small-town feel! The shop that does the classes is called The Sweet Elephant, and inside they have a little bit of everything. Breakfast sandwiches, pastries, locally roasted coffee and more wines than you can count.
Speaking of wine, they do tastings regularly and even make wine in-house. I fell in love with the pear wine. It was delicious, and if your in the area you should try it.
Then we got down to painting. We picked the owl painting so that they could all go together in my little cousins room as a surprise. Even though we were all working on the exact same picture each owl has its own personality. We had a great time chatting, and laughing and tasting wine. I also had coffee of course, and it was really good.
Our owls had themes – Spiderman, Scaredy Cat, Hipster, and Bowsy. They turned out way better than we all expected and my cousin loved them! It was so much fun creating the paintings and just getting time for us girls to hang out and laugh together.
