Project 52 – “Family”

Project 52 – “Family”

This week's theme for the Project 52 Photo Series is Family, which works out perfectly for me.  We have been on an 11 day road-trip around the country visiting family and exploring.  This past week we made it to South-eastern Nebraska, one of the many places I call home, where my Grandparents live. This was an important trip because I have not seen my Mom's parents in almost 4 full years.  I did get through Nebraska 2 years ago, on my way to CoffeeCon but they were in Alabama at the time and Continue reading

Making Homemade Raspberry Jam

Making Homemade Raspberry Jam

Let's just start off with a bit of truth, I have never made raspberry jam or any kind before this adventure.  The closest I have come is making some jelly, and well the result was just barely edible.  That is where Grandma comes in! Thoughts about – At My Grandmother’s Table by Faye Porter

A few weeks ago Hubs and I went out for breakfast, which is not something we do often but it is always a nice way to start the day.  While we were out and about in Missoula I stumbled upon the book, At My Grandmother's Table by Faye Porter.  It is a collection of stories and recipes passed down from one generation to another.  It reminded me so much of my Grandma that I couldn't even read it while we were at the store. I put it back on the shelf and walked away, sometimes it is hard to bring up Continue reading

Mother’s Day in Superior, Montana and an Old Barn

Mother’s Day in Superior, Montana and an Old Barn

This past weekend Hubs and I headed out to his Grandparents home in Superior, Montana.  It was nice to get out of town, and see spend time with family.  I love going to their house, it is so peaceful out there.  We took a back road on the way and stumbled on this great old barn thats still being used.  I just love the look of it up against the mountain!  We had a lovely weekend working in the garden and going to church with his Grandparents.  It is always nice to get away even if it is just for Continue reading

Staying connected with Vonage #VonageBox

Staying connected with Vonage #VonageBox

(Sponsored)      Lets talk about staying connected.  We have social media, like Facebook Twitter and Pinterest, which are great for sharing little snippets about our day and photos.  But what I am talking about is really connecting.  The kind of connections that happen in a long phone call, or over a cup of coffee.  While there is no replacement for spending time together in person sometimes as military families, that is just not an option.      When we can not get together in Continue reading
